
Steve Krigas
Defense Intelligence Agency Steve Krigas is a recognized expert in the collection, processing and dissemination of intelligence, from tactical level exploitation teams to engagements with US and foreign leaders across the spectrum of military and governmental organizations. He has served and deployed worldwide as a U.S. Marine, as a government civilian, and as a private industry contractor. Currently, Mr. Krigas is the NORAD and USNORTHCOM (NNC) J2 Representative to Canadian Forces Intelligence Command (CFINTCOM), where he drives US and Canadian Intelligence Communities' intelligence collection and analysis in support of NNC’s missions. Additionally, he is integrated in CFINTCOM as the Operations Director (J3) for the Canadian Forces Intelligence Group, providing direction to seven bespoke intelligence collection units.
Before coming to Canada, Steve served as the NNC Deputy J2X, coordinating Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence (CI/HUMINT) efforts throughout the NNC region. Mr. Krigas was also previously the NNC J2-Forward in Mexico responsible for managing the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) portion of US/Mexican bilateral military intelligence initiatives and programs where he was also the Senior Intelligence Officer, Defense Attaché Office (DAO), responsible for ensuring timely intelligence support for the DAO and NNC J2. During the Global War on Terror, as a DoD civilian, Steve was the HUMINT Operations Chief for US Army Africa, coordinating Army HUMINT activities across much of the African continent in support of USAFRICOM. During that time, he was also deployed as the Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) CI/HUMINT Chief (J2X) for Operation Odyssey Dawn, responsible for coordinating CI and HUMINT activities in support of combat operations in Libya. Most recently, Mr. Krigas deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Mr. Krigas’ 30 years with the Marine Corps Reserves included a variety of intelligence operations. As the DoD representative at a Joint Terrorism Task Force, Steve supported Law Enforcement as a HUMINT collector.
He served multiple short tours as an Assistant Marine Attaché at embassies throughout Asia and Europe. Steve also served as the Task Force CI lead and HUMINT Exploitation Team lead at CJTF Horn of Africa, directing intelligence teams throughout six countries for Operation Enduring Freedom. He deployed as a HUMINT team leader to Operation Iraqi Freedom, conducting operations against extremist organizations. In the 1990s, Steve supported law enforcement counternarcotics operations as a targeting analyst over several tours in Central and South America as well as the U.S. and Caribbean. Steve and his wife, Elizabeth, have two sons and live in Ottawa, Canada.
